On August 10, 2007, the Depression and Bipolar Disorder Support Alliance (DBSA) launched the "Facing Us" campaign, a national initiative to illuminate the real 'face' of depression and bipolar disorder—as the real, treatable, medical illnesses that they are!
We all have a story…stories of hope, recovery, humor, struggle and triumph. Help us show the world the real 'face' of depression and bipolar disorder.
You don’t have to be a professional film maker. Video contest submissions will be judged on impact, not on quality of filming, so get out or borrow a video camera and tell your story in a way that is as unique as you are—deliver a personal monologue, sing your story in a song, say it with a poem, act out a play with a friend, use animation/illustration or create a comedy act around your experience! Share your personal experience with:
17 prizes will be awarded including a grand prize of $1,000! So, take a chance. Tell your story!
Let’s show the real face of depression and bipolar disorder. If your interests are more in painting/drawing, there is a related art contest as well. Or, if you are a film student, you can participate in a separate contest to develop a formal public service announcement (PSA). You can learn more about all three of the contests (video, art & PSA) at www.FacingUs.org.
