The Florida Peer Network is proud to announce publication of our new book edited by Executive Director, Patrick Hendry. The book, Common Threads, Stories of Survival & Recovery from Mental Illness, features stories by members of the Network.
The Florida Peer Network and the Louis de la Parte Mental Health Institute joined forces to produce this collection of incredible stories of survival and recovery from mental illness. In Common Threads, people chronicle the events of their lives that detail their struggles with the losses that come with a psychiatric diagnosis and the triumphs of overcoming them.
“This book is the final product of eight months of collecting and editing stories from our members about their personal journeys to recovery,” said Patrick Hendry. “By examining the common threads identified by individuals as important to their recovery, we begin to understand how these elements can be incorporated into our public mental health system.”
“The power of sharing our experiences gives hope to others as they begin their private journeys along that difficult road to recovery,” said Hendry. “This book is an excellent example of the benefits of partnerships between consumers and mental health professionals.”
While there is no charge for the book, donations to the Florida Peer Network will be accepted. A suggested donation of $15 with each order will be greatly appreciated and will aid the Network in distributing the books to those living on minimal incomes.
