Tammy Serio - Port Charlotte, Florida - Tammy lives with mental illness every day and yet she defines herself by her art. She works in many different mediums, including painting, pen and ink, and metal and wood sculpture. She continues to reach out to other artists living with mental illnesses to join together to express their creativity and celebrate recovery. Artist Statement: I’ve been doing art all my life. My first interest in art started when I was 7 years old; my babysitter actually got me into it. Since then I diligently traced and taught myself how to do different mediums. I love doing different mediums because you never know what you’re going to be good at. I furthered my love of art through some art courses at FGCU where I learned even more techniques and mediums. I also obtained a BA in art. Since then I do art for me and further explore what I can do. I also partake in art shows and commissioned work.
